About
In this session we explore coercive control as a pattern of behaviour designed to dominate, isolate, and restrict another person’s freedom. We look beyond single incidents to understand how control can build over time through intimidation, monitoring, manipulation, threats, and “rules” that keep someone walking on eggshells. What you’ll learn What coercive control is (and what it isn’t) Common tactics and warning signs in relationships and family life The impact on confidence, decision-making, mental health, and safety How coercive control can show up for adults and young people, online and offline Accountability: recognising controlling behaviours and the steps needed to change Support and safer choices: boundaries, safety planning, and where to get help This session is designed to be clear, respectful, and practical—supporting victims to recognise and respond to coercive control, and supporting perpetrators to understand harm, take responsibility, and commit to change.
