NO FEART COURSES

All courses run by No Feart are completely FREE for survivors of domestic violence and abuse to attend.  Each course runs for approximately 12 weeks, and lasts for around 2 hours in length with lunch, tea & coffee provided.

Our courses are delivered in various areas of Glasgow throughout the year.  Simply complete the form below to book a place.

OUR COURSES ARE COMPLETELY FREE TO ATTEND

The Programme was primarily designed for women as victims of domestic violence, since research shows that in the vast majority of cases of serious abuse are male on female. However, the programme, when provided as an intensive two day course, is also suitable for men, whether abusive and wishing to change their attitudes and behaviour or the victims of domestic abuse themselves.

The Freedom Programme examines the roles played by attitudes and beliefs on the actions of abusive men and the responses of victims and survivors. The aim is to help them to make sense of, and understand what has happened to them instead of the whole experience just feeling like a horrible mess.

The Freedom Programme also describes in detail how children are affected by being exposed to this kind of abuse and very importantly how their lives are improved when the abuse is removed.

FREEDOM PROGRAMME

Both of these courses address co-dependency issues which arise with having difficulty with; Loving the self, Self-care, protective boundaries, knowing who you are and your needs and wants. To work on our co-dependency we must look at the cause. Also, work at looking after ourselves in a way we perhaps have never been shown or know how to.

Love addiction is what will usually manifest from co-dependency issues. It’s when we have unhealthy entanglements in our relations with others.

CO-DEPENDENCY & LOVE ADDICTION

Many women have requested a follow-on to the Freedom Programme. When attending the Freedom Programme, women advised that they developed strong support networks with co-attendees.

Many found the Freedom Programme groups to be supportive and non judgemental, and that they had found somewhere they belonged. At the end of the 12 week Freedom Programme many did not want to leave. Where it was possible some women continued to attend for over a year. Others attended ad-hoc when they were starting a new relationship, or having the “wobble” about past relationships. Some women returned after developing yet another abusive relationship, wondering how they could have fallen for it again.

Families that were involved with Social Care often reported they did not have a clue about the procedures used by professionals. Within Freedom Forever we cover various issues including keeping safe, new relationships, housing options, considering our own hopes and dreams and have also included an overview of child protection procedures, however, this is not legal advice and we strongly recommend women seek legal advice from an appropriate solicitor if they find themselves in this position.

To gain the most from this workbook it is advisable that attendees have first completed the Freedom Programme.

ATTENDING GROUP - WHAT TO EXPECT

We understand it can feel daunting attending a new group with people you don't know.  However, you will be made to feel very welcome by our team and our team of volunteers.  No Feart is a survivor organisation and everyone within the room has personal experience of domestic abuse.

Our group facilitators and volunteers will offer you a very warm welcome to the group and lunch, tea and coffee is also provided.

Our courses are designed that everyone attending our courses are seated in to smaller groups around the room, to encourage everyone to chat together during group work sessions.  At no time will you be expected to speak out or share anything you don't want to share.  One of our volunteers will always be seated at each table to help new group members feel more comfortable, and offer help during small group chats.

We look forward to welcoming you!

TESTIMONIALS

I am a Primary School teacher that recently attended the Freedom Programme and Freedom Forever group programmes with No Feart.  I am a survivor of domestic abuse and these programmes have literally saved my life.   The programme offers peer support within a safe environment to share experiences and offers knowledge and understanding of the different types of abuse.

The programme helps to empower women to stand up and not accept being abused. No Feart is the reason I am standing tall today. I would be happy to be involved in rolling this programme out to schools.
