About
This session looks at sexual abuse through a clear, practical lens, helping men, women, and young people understand what sexual abuse is, how it can happen, and why it’s often misunderstood. We explore legal definitions in plain language, including what consent means (and what it doesn’t), how coercion and pressure remove real choice, and how power, fear, grooming, intoxication, and manipulation can be used to control someone. It’s designed to clarify experiences for victims, helping them name what happened and understand that confusion, freezing, compliance, or delayed reactions don’t equal consent. It also challenges perpetrators and harmful attitudes, confronting excuses, minimisation, and entitlement, and reinforcing personal responsibility, boundaries, and respect. You’ll learn to recognise common tactics and warning signs, challenge myths, and build a stronger understanding of safety, accountability, and informed decision-making.
